About the Artist

Judy Breau I live and work in the Haliburton Highlands, cottage country for many Torontonians. The scenery is breathtaking, people are friendly and the arts community is thriving. Creating is easy here: a quick glance through my studio window offers an abundance of colour, texture, line and form with endless design possibilities. I begin with the selection of materials to be used: ceramic tile, stained glass, broken china, glass beads, found objects, whatever works. Glass, tile and china are then carefully hand-cut into smaller usable tesserae which are glued, piece by piece, to a backing substrate until a form (intended or otherwise) begins to emerge. Coaxed from the chaos, the results can be very surprising! Finally, each piece is grouted and sealed for protection.

I create mosaics because I love them and I hope you will as well.
